Used in the production of paper and cellulose pulp; used in the production of soaps, synthetic detergents, synthetic fatty acids and the refining of animal and vegetable oils and fats. Textile printing and dyeing industry is used as cotton desizing agent, scouring agent and mercerizing agent. The chemical industry is used to produce borax, sodium cyanide, formic acid, oxalic acid, phenol, etc. The petroleum industry is used for refining petroleum products and in oil field drilling muds. It is also used in the production of aluminum oxide, metal zinc and metal copper surface treatment and glass, enamel, tanning, medicine, dyes and pesticides. Food-grade products are used as acid neutralizers in the food industry, peeling agents for citrus, peaches, etc., as well as decolorizers and deodorizers.

Industrial solid caustic soda should be packed in iron drums or other airtight containers. The thickness of the drum wall is more than 0.5mm, and the pressure resistance is more than 0.5Pa. There should be a clear "Corrosive Substance" mark on the package. When the edible liquid caustic soda is shipped in a tanker or a storage tank, it must be cleaned after two uses. It is not allowed to transport edible liquid caustic soda in tankers, storage tanks and barrels that have been transported with liquid caustic soda prepared by mercury electrolysis. It is allowed to use plastic drums and storage tanks that meet the requirements of food packaging standards to ship edible liquid caustic soda or flakes of caustic soda. The words "food additives" and "corrosive substances" should be clearly marked on the package. It is a first-class inorganic alkaline corrosion product, and the dangerous regulation number: GB 8.2 class 82001. UN N0.1832; IMDG CODE 8225, page 8226, class 8.2. It should be stored in a ventilated and dry warehouse or shed. The packaging container should be complete and sealed. Do not store and transport together with flammables and acids. During transportation, pay attention to moisture and rain. If the packaging container is found to be rusted, cracked, holed, melted and dripped, etc., the packaging should be replaced immediately or the goods should be used as soon as possible. The damaged container can be repaired by soldering. In case of fire, water, sand and various fire extinguishers can be used to put out the fire, but firefighters should pay attention to the corrosiveness of caustic soda dissolved in water.
Eye Contact: Immediately lift the eyelids, flush with running water or normal saline for at least 15 minutes, or flush with 3% boric acid solution, seek medical attention promptly.
Inhalation: Immediately leave the site in fresh air. Provide artificial respiration if necessary and seek medical attention promptly.
Ingestion: Rinse mouth immediately when the patient is awake, take diluted vinegar or lemon juice orally, and seek medical attention promptly.
